Success of the Mass Transfer Laboratory at the Distillation & Absorption 2026 Conference

The Mass Transfer Group from the Department of Chemical Engineering, represented by Assoc. Prof. František Rejl, Dr. Lukáš Valenz, PhD student Karel Mařík, and Master’s student Veronika Rychlá, presented their research at the Distillation & Absorption 2026 conference in Salzburg, Austria. Held every four years, D&A is one of the most important international conferences focused on research and development in the fields of distillation and absorption.

The team presented their work through several posters and an oral presentation delivered by Dr. Valenz. The topics attracted considerable interest from both academic and industrial experts and stimulated numerous scientific discussions. The team also showcased parts of experimental equipment developed in the laboratory, allowing them to present their research not only through graphs and tables, but also through practical demonstrations of their experimental methods.

The successful participation was crowned by the Best Poster Award, presented to Karel Mařík and co-authors for their poster on combining infrared thermography with the investigation of transport phenomena under distillation conditions. The award also recognizes the long-term efforts of the entire thermography research team within the Mass Transfer Laboratory, to which numerous students and staff members have contributed over the years.
