Our Department Kicks Off the 2025/2026 Academic Year in Full Strength

On Wednesday, September 10, the Department of Chemical Engineering held its traditional pre-semester meeting in lecture hall BII, bringing together all staff members and PhD students ahead of the new academic year. The Head of Department, Prof. František Štěpánek, wished everyone a successful start, welcomed new colleagues, doctoral students, and incoming students, and outlined key organizational updates related to the beginning of the semester.

This year we have every reason to celebrate – our Master’s program in Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering has admitted a record number of students – more than forty. They are joined by new students in the Bachelor’s programs Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering and Nano- and Microtechnologies in Chemical Engineering. The department is also becoming increasingly international, with six students from CPE Lyon, four from the University of Cagliari within the double degree program (while several of our students are currently studying in Italy), and students of the English-language Master’s program, now in both the first and second years. In addition, we are hosting Erasmus+ exchange students, further enriching our international community.

Several new PhD students have also joined the department, strengthening our research teams with fresh ideas and enthusiasm. Overall, our department is larger than ever – and not only that, we are becoming more successful, ambitious, and forward-looking each year.

The new semester begins next week, and the department is ready to dive in with great energy, motivation, and team spirit.
