International Workshop on Science Communication within the COST Action EuroCurvoBioNet
At the beginning of July, the University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague (UCT Prague) hosted a four-day international workshop that dared to explore science from a fresh and unconventional perspective. As part of the European COST Action EuroCurvoBioNet (CA22153), the event brought together scientists, educators, designers, and artists to explore new and engaging ways of communicating the concept of curvature in biology — not only to students but also to the wider public.
The EuroCurvoBioNet Workshop 2025 Outreach & Dissemination was organized by Jitka Čejková from the Department of Chemical Engineering at UCT Prague, in collaboration with Jan Havlík, Head of the Department of Chemical Education and Humanities. The event fostered a creative and open atmosphere, where traditional lectures were complemented by discussions, group work, and hands-on sessions. Participants reflected on how science can be made more accessible through visual art, 3D printing, microscopy, architecture, books, or even podcasts. Rather than just exchanging ideas, the aim was to inspire, co-create, and lay the groundwork for specific projects that will continue to evolve within the EuroCurvoBioNet network — leading up to the final conference in 2027.
