Summer Program for High School Students

This week, UCT Prague is hosting the 38th annual accredited summer school titled "Chemistry for Life," designed for high school teachers and students. This event is part of UCT Prague's outreach program for secondary schools, offering a unique opportunity for mutual inspiration between our university's leading experts and educators. The lectures focus on the latest trends and discoveries in chemistry, covering topics beyond the standard high school curriculum. High school teachers can use the insights gained to motivate their students to pursue chemistry studies.

For the students attending the summer school, a diverse range of laboratory exercises is available in UCT Prague's modern laboratories. As part of these exercises, our department offers "Chemical Engineering for Beginners and Advanced Students." Here, students are introduced to basic unit operations and prepare a cosmetic emulsion in the nano-micro laboratory. They also get to take home a cream they made themselves as a souvenir.

This week, we were also visited by students from the Gymnasium am Wall in Verden, Germany. Jitka Čejková gave them a lecture on Karel Čapek, robots, and her research and books in connection with our university. The students also had the opportunity to tour our department's laboratories.
