Evaluation system

Credit for work in seminars: During the semester student writes two written tests (typically in the 7th a 14th teaching weeks) aimed at solving simple problems using pocket calculator or computer software (program Maple is the standard used during seminar work). Each test can be credited with 0-50 points. Condition for obtaining the credit is to get at least 25 points from each test.
Those who do not fulfill the condition will repeat tests in at most two additional terms during the examination part of the semester. In these additional terms students may also try to improve their marks from their semestral tests.

Exam: The exam is oral and can be taken when credit from the seminars is obtained. Student draws two questions out of a list provided at the beginning of the semester. The discussion with the examiner is preceded by a preparatory period during which student prepares written remarks serving as basis for the discussion. Each question is credited with 0-50 points. To successfully pass  the exam, the student must obtain at least 20 points form each question.
Points from the oral exam and the two tests are combined and the final grade is given according to the following table:

Overall points   Grade
< 100 F
100–119 E
120–139 D
140–159 C
160–179 B
180–200 A
